Protecting customer information is one of the most important things that an online business has to ensure. Afterall, if your customers dont trust you, then they wont be your customers for long.

Recently there has been a spate of companies that have managed to loose customer information, from governments to building societies and banks. These companies failed to put into place the basic protocols to ensure that information that is private, remains that way.

eTrust recently launched a privacy certification that was intended to enforce this, its not suprising that most of these companies arent certified by eTrust, but instead have the absolutely useless TrustE certification.
